The fatigue kicked in the moment I was home today. It's been a long day of 3 lectures and it's so difficult adjusting back to lectures after stopping lectures for 2 weeks because of mid-terms. Anyway, screwed up my mid-terms so damn badly. MCQs are supposed to help us, but they are the bane of my life. Haiz gotta buck up for finals le.
Anyway, my dad went for his dental check (after damn long) and guess what, HE HAS 11 TOOTH DECAYS. How is that even possible omg. Jayden was the first to break our family record with 5 tooth decays at a young age of 6 oh my goodness. And now, my dad topped the record with 11!! He was complaining today that he can't eat now because he had to do many fillings and it hurts LOL SEE LAH this is what happens if you don't practise oral hygiene.
I used to be and actually am still afraid of dentists. I remember in primary school, those scary nurses will come by our classrooms with the horrible red or black clipboards with our names on it, and will announce "REGISTER NUMBER 18, SARAH", to go for cleaning. I did attempt to hide in the toilet before, because if it skips your register number for the day, you'll get pushed back for the next day's check-up, which will give me more time to clean my teeth better at home.
Confession: I used to have VERY BAD oral hygiene practices. I got lazy in primary 3, and only brushed my teeth once a day - when I wake up. Hahaha damn gross right omg all those bacteria in my mouth eeew. Then when I sense that it's going to be my turn for dental check-ups in school, I will desperately go to the toilet sinks during recess and try to scrape the gunk off my teeth using my fingers HAHAHA omg I am damn gross. I thought that my teeth were good to go, but obviously, the nurses are not that dumb LOL. They always complain that my teeth are damn dirty. I'll always lie to them, saying that I brush my teeth AT LEAST twice a day (LOL what a compulsive liar I was), and obviously they could see through my lies, but I refused to bat an eyelid and insisted that I did brush my teeth frequently. FULL OF CRAP. The only person that I'm lying to is to myself.
Then they will give us a grade on our oral hygiene condition: fair, good, excellent. I was ALWAYS fair. In fact, I think I was always one of the few in my classes who got fair, and I'd get so embarrassed, which made me hate and fear dentists.
The turning point was in P5, when one of my adult bottom molar grew out before the baby molar dropped, so I had to undergo an extraction. Since it's a baby tooth, the extraction was of course pretty painless. That also made me want to take care of my teeth better. However, this growth of the adult molar also led to my teeth being crooked, tempting me to put braces. But still super undecided on this decision haiz.
Oh my it's so late now and I've just ended a skype call with Joey HAHA. Sorry for making her listening to my family antics and letting her see how my parents were acting like weirdoes. Just completed my acc tutorial and prep for German stuff because FILMING FOR GERMAN TOMORROW AGAIN. So tired ok nights world. More dental stories another day.
