my braces journal: prelude.

On October 15th, I went for my first consultation with Dr Cheng. It was a quick consultation that took less than 10 mins HAHA. Basically, he had a look at my teeth, and with just once glance, he could tell me which teeth I had to extract (the 4th teeth on both top sides, and 5th teeth, aka the pre-molar on both bottom sides).

He also pointed out to me that I had a very gummy smile, and this could not be altered by braces. It could only be enhanced with surgery and of course, I'm not going to get any surgery done to my gums because 0 level of pain tolerance LOL. He also asked if I have problems fully closing my mouth, which was damn true!! I discovered this a while back. Basically, if I want to fully close my mouth (like the lips touch), I had to clench my teeth and use force to make them touch. Otherwise, within seconds, the lips will pop open once more. This is due to my protruding big teeth (especially the left one). The main reason I had wanted to put on braces is due to this problematic tooth, and the extremely crooked one on the bottom right side (which is the pre-molar, the 5th tooth that I will be extracting).

He also pointed out, that other than my top row of teeth that are protruding (which leads to me having the bugs bunny teeth LOL), apparently, my bottom row is also protruding!! I DID NOT KNOW OF THIS. But after he pointed that out, it became so obvious to me, which also caused me to become more self-conscious and insecure LOL.

He asked me if I wanted to get braces done, but at that moment, I was quite hesitant because omg 4 precious teeth had to be extracted!! But after thinking over, I decided to make an appointment and went for my first "treatment" today (8th November 2016). It's actually just taking mould samples of my teeth and x-ray.

The x-ray is damn cool sia!! Like just bite on this plastic thing, while the machine revolved around my skull. SO COOL. I caught a glimpse of my skull and protruding teeth LOL so hideous. Then took a 2nd x-ray using another machine which shows the teeth zoomed in. Omg didn't know how bad my teeth looked like until I saw the x-ray. Especially the 2 protruding front teeth omg damn ugly. And saw my wisdom tooth HAHA. Dr Cheng was like, "This is not good."  (at my wisdom tooth).

Oh the teeth moulding part wasn't as gross as I thought it would be. When I took a sample from my old dentist, it was a more painful experience and I almost gagged LOL. My cousin said she almost gagged here when she took her sample but it went ok for me. The mould smells good HAHA like some vanilla/shea butter scent, but it tastes awful LOL.

But yeah anyway I have to go for extraction on 1st Dec and my braces journal will start on 8th Dec.
