These few days have been pretty bad but pretty good as well. So confused.
Theatre is really driving me nuts. The feeling of inadequacy just increases after every single time I watch another group's rehearsal. We had our first tech run today, and my goodness, I'm so impressed by the way Rachel & WJ's group pieced up the scenes and unfold them simultaneously, and the lights they used were so simple but effective. Maybe it's a good thing we didn't choose the same play as them or else we'll get compared and score way below them. Haiz as expected from experienced people :( Ours are just super complicated lightings and I think even the technician was internally shaking his head and wondering if we are idiots for choosing such complicated lightings when he already told us not to use too many lights. But our play is different from theirs, so we really need a lot of lights to create the atmosphere, or else it'll be too dry.
Feeling super touched and apologetic towards Cheryl. Really grateful that she was willing to help out for our lights!! Felt super bad because she lives at tampines there and had to come down early to help us with our tech run, and help out with the complicated lightings. She must be feeling so stressed out when handling our lights. Kept thanking and apologising to her so profusely because feeling like super dui bu qi ta :'(
Anyway, tech run was quite fun, albeit we didn't have a chance to go through a full run, which is definitely worrisome because we aren't familiarised with the lights. Got to witness how lights are operated in theatre, with the sliding of so many buttons and such an array of lights to choose from. What an eye-opener!! Also realised how important lights are for OUR play, so hoping to prove the technician wrong by making our use of lights effective.
Had to jump down from the ladder like more than 6 times because they had to get the position of the lights, and the friction caused from landing and sliding on the floor hurt really bad HAHA. I even knocked my head on the floor once because I didn't land well omg dumbo. But we had fun watching Bryce do his catwalk on the blocks HAHA so entertaining and he danced along to the retro music that was playing on Glenn's laptop LOL HAHA. Asked Glenn why he listens to such retro music and he's like OI NOT RETRO HOR haha pffft super oldies.
Haiz really hoping we'll do well on Monday!! Then will be forever done with this burden shit.
