Met up to do touristy stuff with doreen and zixian last Friday haha. Too many stuff to talk about so I guess I'll split the day into 2 posts.
Our first stop - ArtScience Museum.
We bought tickets at $10, which I feel is quite a reasonable price, since we could go for three exhibitions. Plus, we get a complimentary vitamin drink which is worth $3 HAHAH CHEAPOS. (p.s. zx is the first person I know who really enjoyed the vitamin drink omg.) Oh yeah, met them at Marina Bay Sands and it was pouring!! Can I say how impressed I am with the service there??!! There were people situated at the door accesses at MBS and outside ASM, and they will loan you umbrellas to walk from MBS to the museum. SO IMPRESSED SERIOUSLY.
Oh yeah so the exhibitions we visited were: the Collider, Nobel Prize, and the Hermès exhibition.
1. The Collider.
(sighs all my pics from here are GONE because I forgot to save them from my snaps).
This is an exhibit of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). There was this sentence that said, "By the time you read this, a particle in the LHC could have travelled around the world 30 times." Super interesting haha. I can't really remember the information but I think it's around 27km long if my memory does not fail me. Quite interesting.
We also watched some presentation where they talked about their process of finding the Higgs Boson (go google if you wanna know what it is). LOL the overwhelming joy when they discovered it. Can tell that they're really passionate about what they're doing and finding. I'll never have the determination to persist and keep on trying to prove the existence of something. It's amazing how people can form hypotheses of things and try to prove it, without knowing if it will really exist. I think people from the older times are really damn smart.
Doreen and I were roaming around and we came across this telephone booth. We were just playing around and so I picked up the receiver, thinking that it's a dummy phone. Then like even pretended to talk into it since there wasn't any sound LOL. Then we went to press some numbers then heard a voice replying us (the prerecorded things) HAHA freak. We were even joking about Adele's song and wanted to say Hello from the other side.
They also told us a lot of interesting facts at the CERN like how they suspected a bird caused the LHC to stop working for a period of time due to short circuit, but it is debatable as they don't have enough evidence to prove it was caused by a bird, even though there were bird feathers discovered at the "crime scene". HAHA COOL RIGHT.
And apparently they have a choir at CERN (and they were recruiting tenors and basses) HAHA.
THIS WAS THE MOST FUN THING EVER. There was this screen, so we just stand in front of it, then the screen will slowly acquire substance and the shapes of our bodies will start forming against the screen!! SUPER INTERESTING I LOVE IT. But damn the videos I took were not saved shit :'( It's the most interesting thing at that section. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
2. The Nobel Prize.
This was an interesting exhibit. Love reading up on various prize winners and what they've done. There are basically 5 categories - Chemistry, Literature, Peace, Physics, and Physiology and Medicine. Didn't know that the founder of this was a Swedish dude oops. But wow it's such an honour to receive a Nobel Prize. When will I ever receive it?? NEVER.
They showed various boards of what those prize winners had done, and it was interesting to read up on them. Don't know many prize winners other than the Malala oops time to read up more!! Doreen and I were proud of ourselves for recognising some econs winners, such as Nash, Friedman etc HAHA nerds.
They also showed belongings of Alfred Nobel, like his suitcase, hat etc. Super vintage feel and I love it. There were also handwritten manuscripts etc.
There was this section outside where you can colour stuff, and we went over. Doreen and I were super immersed into our wonderful colouring, while zx was probably bored and kept asking us if we were done hahaha. Doreen's concentration level was so high, and did a speed-colouring. The boy sitting opposite me only coloured like maybe on small thing and gave up HAHA. Colouring seriously takes a lot of patience, but I love it and it can be therapeutic. Spent one hour colouring 3 flowers in my enchanted garden book that time though LOL. Heard some woman saying that colouring just makes her more stress because she can't decide what colours to choose from hahaha.
3. Hermès.
WTH so I just went onto youtube to find how to pronounce this freaking brand and I have like 5 different pronunciations (air-mez, er-mez, air-maze, etc etc etc) on it??!! WTH can someone just standardise it??
Anyway this place was not as interesting, maybe coz I'm not very into the bags?? But it was visually/aesthetically pleasing. Whole place felt damn atas.
Super swag bike with wings.
There was this place where they had motorised fake horses though and it's quite funny, coz we saw two kids riding on it and they were doing cowboy moves like swinging their fake whips LOL.
This place was cute though. CUTE LITTLE TINY BAGS.
LOLOLOL HAHA.
Alright that's all for part one. Shall continue another day. :)
